The first time that you open the Booklink app after resetting the handheld, you will be asked to configure some settings.
- Open the Booklink app. Then grant the requested privileges.
- Enter the handheld number into the the Device ID space. This number has been assigned to the handheld by IT and should be on a label on the back of the handheld. It is critical to get this number entered properly because it affects a lot of systems. If you are not sure, or have entered the number incorrectly, reach out to IT, so it can be fixed immediately.
- Enter the van ID that this handheld will be servicing from into the Van ID space. It is important that this number be correct, because it links to Samsara vehicle mileage; and with BLAM StoreSync (coming soon) it will determine which van inventory file gets loaded to the van.
- Enter the beginning invoice number. If a number lower than the last invoice number is entered, duplicate invoice numbers will be generated, which will result in a lot of headache for you, IT, and accounting.
- To get the correct number, look in Booklink Desktop for the last invoice number generated by that handheld ID, and add one to the number. You will want to sort the results to ensure that you are seeing the highest number. (For example, if the last invoice number for HH-3183 is 3183001867, the next invoice number needs to be 3183001868.)
- To get the correct format for BLAM, remove the handheld number and all filler 0's and enter the remainder. (For example, in the scenario above, remove the 318300 from the beginning of the invoice number, and enter 1868 in the Invoice number space in the Booklink App.
- Tap OK to save your changes. (This screen is also where you would configure Hold to Scan settings, turn Van Inventory on or off, and connect to your printer.)
