What is SSPR and MFA?
- SSPR - Self Service Password Reset. This is what it sounds like. It is a feature that allows a user to reset their password on their own, without intervention from the IT department.
- MFA - Multi factor authentication. An additional method of authentication while signing into an account. MFA is required in order for SSPR to work.
Configuring MFA
1. Reach out to the IT department at support@choicebooks.com to have them enable MFA on your account. You will not be able to proceed further in this process if MFA is not enabled for your account.
2. Open Google Play Store and update to the latest version of Microsoft Authenticator app.
3. Open a browser on your HH and navigate to https://aka.ms/mfasetup/. Sign in with your user credentials.
4. You will now see a page that says more information is required. Tap next.
5. The next screen says you need MS Authenticator. Press Next.
6. On this screen, do not press next, yet. Instead press "Pair your account to the app by clicking this link." This will open the MS Authenticator app.
7. Using your PIN or fingerprint to open MS Authenticator. You should see an "Account Added Successfully "message pop up at the bottom of the page.
8. Go back to the browser, and click the "Next" button pictured in step 6.
9. Let's try it out. You will now receive a notification from the Authenticator app asking you to approve the sign in. The notification appears briefly at the top of the screen. If it disappears before you tap it, you can find it in the notification tray by swiping down from the top of your phone screen. Note the bold number in the center of the screen before approving the sign in. You will need to enter this number in Authenticator to authenticate your sign-in attempt.
10. Enter the number shown into the blue box and press "Yes".
11. Now for a final verification that you want to use Authenticator. Press Next.
12. And finally... success! MFA is configured. Keep reading to see how to reset your password with SSPR.
