Clean Boot your Handheld

Modified on Fri, Apr 7, 2023 at 7:21 AM

CAUTION:

A clean boot erases the memory in the mobile computer, including all application and data file, with the exception of those found in the flash file store or any removable storage (where the servicing data is stored).

You will NOT lose your servicing info during this process.

Instructions

  1. Turn the handheld completely off, then remove the battery.
  2. Wait 5 - 10 seconds, then insert the battery.
  3. Press the power button to turn the handheld on.
  4. As soon as the Honeywell Logo appears, press the Power button.
    • If the message 'Launching OS' appears at this step, you must restart at Step 1, as your button press was not recognized or at an incorrect time.
  5. The message 'Enter first key in 20 seconds' appears.
  6. Press 1212
  7. The message 'Clean boot Confirmed' appears, and the handheld continues the clean boot process
    • IF YOU DO NOT SEE THIS, YOU DID NOT CLEAN BOOT THE HANDHELD and must start over at step 1.
  8. The handheld will reboot at least twice and install and configure software. Please wait until it is completely finished to resume using it.

Barcode Method

If you're already having issues, the barcode method is unlikely to work, but it may be worth a shot.

When you scan a configuration barcode, four dots will swirl in the center of the screen for 5 - 10 seconds. If the dots remain for longer than 10 seconds, the configuration system has crashed and must be restarted by rebooting (warm boot) the handheld.

To perform a clean boot, scan both barcodes below.

Do not ask us which one to scan. Scan both of them, starting with the smaller one.
