Assigning a Device To a User

All handhelds will be in "Shared Device Mode" until they are assigned to a user. This means that many of the apps that require user login such as Outlook, Paylocity, Teams, etc will be missing from the HH.


Devices in "Shared device mode" can be shared by multiple users, such as part time reps, warehouse staff, and other irregular users of handheld units. If a user needs a device on a regular basis, reach out to support@choicebooks.com to request a device for that user.


  1. After a device has been reset and you are ready to assign a device to a user, send an email to support@choicebooks.com to let IT know which user you want the device assigned to. They will enable "User Mode" so that full functionality will be available to the new user of the device.

  2. Assist the User with changing the handheld PIN to a unique and un-guessable number. This can be done in Settings > Security and Privacy > Lock Screen > Screen Lock. (Optionally, consider configuring fingerprint or face recognition for quicker sign in.)
