Using a Barcode Scanner with Pricing Utility

Modified on Fri, Jan 13, 2023 at 4:10 PM

We use the Honeywell 1400G barcode scanner to increase productivity when printing book labels.

The operation is simple:

  1. Plug the barcode scanner into any available USB port
  2. Open Pricing Utility
  3. Hold a book barcode under the barcode scanner to type the barcode into Pricing Utility

When placed in the included stand, the scanner is ready to scan, even with the light off. Holding a book under the scanner causes the scanner to activate.

You should use the stand as shown below, provided you have adequate space. Pressing the button to scan is awkward and a waste of time.

Additionally, you should use the barcode scanner. Typing ISBNs manually or pre-printing hundreds of labels from a PO is tedious and error-prone.
